What is the Tech4Good Changemaker Scholarship?

Tech4Good Changemaker Scholarship is sponsored by Socious Inc., a community app for social change. It is designed to solve the shortage of IT talent in the social impact sector and aims to help train and support people to become social entrepreneurs or boost their career in the tech4good field.

The scholarship covers up to 30% of the tuition fee for full-time and part-time Le Wagon Tokyo web development and data science bootcamps. 

The scholarship is for people who are passionate about:

  • Solving social issues and achieving the SDGs.
  • Learning coding and data science skills for social good.

A maximum of one applicant will be awarded the scholarship for each Le Wagon batch.

Data Science

Our Data Science course gives you the skills you need to launch your career in data. From Pandas to Deep Learning, you will learn how to explore, clean, and transform data into actionable insights and how to implement Machine Learning models in a production environment.

Here is an overview of our program:

🏠 Foundations: Learn the core concepts of Python, SQL, mathematical concepts, visualization, and more.

πŸ’» Machine Learning, Data Engineering: Get into the art and science of modeling and regression, and learn how to use Google Cloud. We'll also cover concepts like Deep Learning and Natural Language Processing.

πŸ“£ Final Projects:  Get into the shoes of a Data Scientist by building a data product or service in team. We encourage you to be ambitious and creative!

πŸ’Ό Career Week: From CV designing, simulations of technical interviews, and face-to-face interviews with recruiters.

Program Requirements: you'll need some prerequisites in Maths & Python. In terms of Python, you must be comfortable with data types & variables, conditions, loops, functions and the two data structures list & dict. On the Maths, you'll need you to be comfortable with functions, their derivatives & systems of linear equations.

How to apply?

Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
  • Planning to establish or work for a social impact organization after graduation.

  • Being accepted to one of Le Wagon Tokyo’s web development or data science bootcamps. 

  • Having a financial need that makes it difficult to pay full tuition.

Le Wagon’s web development and data science bootcamps are remote friendly and open for participants from anywhere in the world.

Scholarship Application Steps

This Scholarship is applicable to the Tokyo Full-Time and Part-Time Web Development and Data Science Bootcamps

  1. Submit your application using the form on this page.

  2. Schedule in your Zoom interview with Le Wagon Tokyo. (Our admissions team will be in touch, usually within 24hrs after you submit your application).

  3. If your initial Le Wagon application is successful after your interview, apply for the assessment with Socious.

  4. After that, you may be invited to an interview with the Socious team.

Additional information and FAQs

Can I be considered for the scholarship, if I have already applied to a Le Wagon Bootcamp?

Yes, if you have already applied to any Le Wagon Bootcamp, you can be considered. You will need to follow the scholarship application process and send an email to tokyo@lewagon.org with the subject "Tech4Good Changemakers Scholarship Application".

Current students are not considered for the Scholarship. 

What happens if I have already paid my deposit for the Bootcamp?

If you have already paid your deposit, then you can still be considered for one of the scholarships. You need to follow the application process and if you are successful in receiving the scholarship, your balance due will be adjusted accordingly.

Can I combine the Scholarship with the Specialized Practice Education and Training Benefits Program?

Applicants eligible for the Specialized Practice Education and Training Benefits Program cannot combine it with Tech4Good Changemaker Scholarship.

Can I still enter the bootcamp if I'm not successful with the Scholarship?

Yes, you are welcome to proceed with your application regardless of your Scholarship status. You can also take a look at the Specialized Practice Education and Training Benefits Program that reimburses up to 70% of the  tuition fee. 

I can only attend the course remotely, can I still apply for the scholarship?

For full-time courses, you are required to attend our campus in Tokyo. For part-time courses, you can attend it in a hybrid format - remote on weekdays and on-campus on Saturdays.
