What is the Le Wagon Scholarship?

The Le Wagon London Scholarship is designed to help make coding accessible to a more diverse range of people. This programme aims to help train and support people coming from historically underrepresented groups in STEM disciplines to start or boost their career in the tech sector. We're looking for a future founder or one to watch in the tech industry as a software developer, data scientist, product manager, entrepreneur or freelancer - the choice is yours after the Bootcamp!

The Le Wagon London Scholarship programme is now closed until our next batches open for 2022.

You can still apply to both our full-time and part-time courses whilst seats are available for 2021.

If you have already applied to the Full-Time Data Science or Web Development Bootcamp, please do not submit your application again.

Web Development

Our intensive Full-Time programming bootcamp in Web Development is an immersive experience that takes you from a beginner to Junior Software Developer. At the end of the course, you will know how to build a robust and user-friendly software that answers your users' needs.

Data Science

Our Data Science course gives you the skills you need to launch your career in data. From Pandas to Deep Learning, you will learn how to explore, clean, and transform data into actionable insights and how to implement Machine Learning models in a production environment.

Here is an overview of our program:

🏠 Foundations: Learn the core concepts of Python, SQL, mathematical concepts, visualization, and more.

πŸ’» Machine Learning, Data Engineering: Get into the art and science of modeling and regression, and learn how to use Google Cloud. We'll also cover concepts like Deep Learning and Natural Language Processing.

πŸ“£ Final Projects:  Get into the shoes of a Data Scientist by building a data product or service in team. We encourage you to be ambitious and creative!

πŸ’Ό Career Week: From CV designing, simulations of technical interviews, and face-to-face interviews with recruiters.

Program Requirements: you'll need some prerequisites in Maths & Python. In terms of Python, you must be comfortable with data types & variables, conditions, loops, functions and the two data structures list & dict. On the Maths, you'll need you to be comfortable with functions, their derivatives & systems of linear equations.

Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
  • You are a UK resident.

  • You are 18 years or older.

  • You have been accepted onto one of our Full-time Bootcamps

  • You identify with one or more underrepresented groups in STEM, including: female; ethnic minorities; LGBTQ+; limited access to education; living with disabilities.

This scholarship is not cumulative and cannot be combined with other scholarships, discounts or a loan.

Scholarship Application Steps

This Le Wagon Scholarship is applicable to the London Full-Time Web Development and Data Science Bootcamps

  1. Submit your application using the form on this page.

  2. Our Admission team will be in touch with you to schedule an interview within 24hrs.

  3. If your initial Le Wagon application is successful after your interview, you will then be able to apply for the Scholarship. We will ask you to write up to 400 words, submitted in a word document or pdf format, detailing your motivations to learn Web Development or Data Science with Le Wagon London for the Scholarship application - please feel free to get creative!

Additional information and FAQs

Can I be considered for the scholarship, if I have already applied to a Le Wagon Bootcamp?

Yes, if have already applied to any Le Wagon Bootcamp, you can be considered. You will need to follow the scholarship application process and send an email to "harriet@lewagon.org" with the subject "Le Wagon London Scholarship Application".

What happens if I have already paid my deposit for the Bootcamp?

If you have already paid your deposit, then you can still be considered for one of the scholarships. You need to apply follow the application process and if you are successful in receiving the scholarship, your balance due will be adjusted accordingly.

Can I apply for more than one scholarship?

No, you can only apply for and be considered for one of the scholarship programmes.

If I'm successful, can I defer my scholarship?

No, students do not have the option to defer the scholarship to a subsequent Bootcamp. You must start in the Bootcamp that you originally applied for.

Who will decide who the scholarship will be granted to?

Each scholarship will be granted based on the merit of the scholarship application. The ultimate decision will be made by an independent panel of judges formed of individuals from organisations that focus on increasing the diversity and inclusion for underrepresented groups within Tech.

I can only attend the course remotely, can I still apply for the scholarship?

Over the last 18 months, we have been running a hybrid learning format for all of our Bootcamps, where you can choose if you want to learn on campus, remotely or a mixture of the two formats.
